So... DON'T PANIC! I was WAYyyy off my game on Thursday and forgot it was a half day! Thus, I did not complete the preparation necessary for this writing assignment. Don't worry if you have nothing for Monday's class. If you can get started, do it! We'll talk and come up with a plan on Monday.
Write your first draft of the Huck Finn analytical essay. You need to first determine a "theme' you want to analyze. Go to the 11A page called WRITING RESOURCES. Review the power point on writing thesis statements. Use it as a guide to get started. When we begin writing, we create a WORKING THESIS. This thesis will certainly be modified as we continue to write and revise.
This should be a minimum of 5 paragraphs that use quotations from the text to SHOW your point, not just "tell." Yes, you should have an introduction and conclusion. But if you don't have the conclusion quite thought out, don't worry; introductions and conclusions are often the last to be created.
In class on Monday, we will have a writer's workshop where you can ask me questions or receive help finding supporting quotations.. COMPLETE draft is due in Google docs folder at the end of class on Monday.
See the rubric below to guide your writing.
