Complete reading the chapter titled: "The Things They Carried." Then read "On the Rainy River." TAKE NOTES! I'm libel to give pop quizzes for this book.
Finish your paper. I will review it over vacation and give you feedback.
At the end of class on Monday the 25th, you COMPLETE the revision. Use the class time to ask me clarifying questions.
Tuesday and Thursday are writing workshops.
Tuesday-by the end of class you should have MOST of the first draft completed. I will give you feedback for Thursday's class.
Thursday-by the end of class you COULD have the essay revised, thus having no homework over vacation.
Write an analysis of The Great Gatsby where you include outside resources that inform your thinking. This is a research based essay where you will be taught correct MLA format next week. Three classes will be devoted to writing workshop.
Now that we have completed viewing 2 movie versions of The Great Gatsby, you will begin to write an analytical essay. The topics are WIDE-OPEN! Whatever you decide to do, it will be research-based. You can analyze anything about the films or the novel. I will be teaching your about correct MLA documentation along the way.
For tonight, begin to research some ideas. Use .EDU cites; avoid .COM cites. Write down ideas. BRAINSTORM.
In class we will begin a discussion of what you know, what you think you know, and any inspirational ideas you might have had.
Bring your copy of the novel!!!
