Read through Spoon River Anthology. Find a character you are willing to "know" and understand. Attached is the assignment that I will explain at length in class on Wednesday. The actual presentation is not until next week. Drawing numbers on Wednesday, you will sign-up for one character to present to the class. You should select a back-up character, in case someone else chooses your character before you get your turn to choose.

Read handout by Annie Dillard. Look for similarities with Thoreau's Walden (excerpt) When considering English classes for next year, consult the attached description of NEW classes NOT in the Program of Studies which are 1/2 credit towards graduation, but NOT English credits. Be prepared to inform me of your preferences for English courses. You need to take one of the college writing courses; which one is dependent on your PSAT or SAT writing score. Higher than 45/450 on the PSAT/SAT writing section is required to take the Accelerated College Writing. Below 44/440 you be be placed in the Academic college Writing course. If you are interested in taking UCONN English (1.0 credit) or the "new" UCONN American Studies (.5 credit), other requirements must be met. SEE me.
